It is with great pleasure and pride that the Department of Civil Engineering announces that the Chinese Academy of Engineering has elected Emeritus Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dimitrios Beskos, as its “Foreign Member”. The Chinese Academy of Engineering has as its members 970 Chinese scientists with voting rights and 120 foreign scientists without voting rights. The Academy elects 20-30 Foreign Members every two years, of which 1-2 are Civil Engineers. The election of Professor D. Beskos to the Academy of Engineering of China is a highly honorable act in recognition of the significant impact of his research in the field of Engineering, as well as his contribution to the promotion of Greek-Chinese cooperation in the scientific field of engineering. The Department of Civil Engineering cordially congratulates Emeritus Professor D. Beskos and expresses its immense pleasure to have him as a member. Professor D. Beskos has been instrumental in fostering a climate of research excellence in the Department, and in establishing it as one of the best Departments of Civil Engineering in the world.
