Three Hierarchs Celebration (30/1/2023) – Student Excellence Awards 2022 – Outstanding Graduate

The student years were an experience I had at an old age, as my professional orientation required a lot of time and dedication to my tasks. As an Officer of the Hellenic Police Department, I attended courses related to legal science. Considering that the way of thinking and the practical application of the principles of law are similar to philosophical thinking, I decided to enter the world of Philosophy and intellectuality by passing the examinations in 2018.

Throughout my time as a student, I attended courses of great interest. The knowledge I acquired was valuable, the contribution and the transfer of ideas from my professors was substantial and abundant. Clearly, it took great effort to reach the level of excellence, but my commitment to my courses paid off completely. I believe that my success was the result of a struggle to understand philosophical concepts, and even more to become familiar with terms as important as life itself. Teaching in the lecture theatre was truly fascinating, and it was a motivation for further individual research in relevant literature and in search leading me to new topics. The position of virtue as my primary goal was entirely due to the professors, who instilled in me the value of knowledge for knowledge per se and for improving my morale as a member of civil society.

My studies at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Patras, opened new horizons and intrigued my strength to continue my studies at a higher level. Besides, the wise Solon taught us that “I grow old being taught by the virtuous and the righteous“.
