On Monday, January 30, 2023 at 18.00, the official celebration of the University of Patras for the Three Hierarchs and the Day of Letters will take place at the Conference and Cultural Centre of the University of Patras. In the framework of the event, the title of Honorary Doctor of the Department of Management Science and Technology of the University of Patras will be awarded to the guest speaker Mr. Stavros K. Dimas, former Minister and former EU Commissioner.

The event will be opened by the Rector of the University of Patras, Professor Christos I. Bouras, followed by a speech by the Representative of the President of the Greek Government, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Andreas Katsaniotis.

Afterwards, honorary plaques and diplomas will be awarded to the faculty members who retired in the previous academic year, 2021-22, in recognition of their long-term contribution to the education and development of the Foundation. In addition, the “Student Excellence Awards”, honors accompanied by cash prizes, will be awarded to outstanding graduates of the University of Patras in the academic year 2021-22. During the event, the “Andreas Philippou Award”, the “PANAGIOTIS KANELLOPOULOS” 2022 Outstanding Publication Award and the “EVANGELOS PAPANOUTSOS” 2022 Outstanding Teaching Award will also be awarded.

Finally, the event will end with the keynote speech of the honoree, Mr. Stavros K. Dimas, on the topic: “The European Union and Climate Change”.
