Dimitris KOURETAS – currently Professor of Animal Physiology and Toxicology at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly – is a graduate of the University of Patras holding a degree from the Department of Pharmacy (1985).

From 1990-1992 he worked as a researcher at Harvard Medical School in Boston USA. Since 1996 he has been a faculty member at the University of Thessaly. His research interests include molecular mechanisms of antioxidant activity of plant phenolics, adaptation in exercise in human: study of redox and molecular mechanisms involved and functional food development and action in humans.

He served as the President of the Innovation Council of the Region of Thessaly (2013-2015).

Dimitris KOURETAS is also the founder of Foodoxys (https://www.foodoxys.com/en/) a spin-off company of the University of Thessaly, which aims to ensure nutritional wellness on an individualized basis.
